Description Kam Leo 2004-02-18 22:31:19 UTC
Description of problem:

Unresolved symbols when updating kernel.

root@linux# rpm -Uvh ker*.rpm
Preparing...

depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2173.nptl/kernel/drivers /scsi/aacraid/aacraid.o
depmod: nblank
depmod: aac_adapter_check_health

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

2.4.22-1.2173.pntl

How reproducible:
Every time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. rpm -Uvh kernel*.rpm
2.
3.

Actual results:
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2173.nptl/kernel/drivers /scsi/aacraid/aacraid.o
depmod: nblank
depmod: aac_adapter_check_health

Expected results:

Expect such an error to occur in a "testing" release, not in
"released" update.

Additional info:

<rant> This is the second time that I have had a problem with a
"released" kernel update. The previous update kernel-2.4.22-1.2166
wanted an old insmod in /bin. Anyone really testing this stuff before
releasing it? </rant>
