Description of problem: Migration of Oracle Linux 5.8 VMware VM using virt-v2v fails

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Execute virt-v2v to migration Oracle Linux 5.8 VMware VM to oVirt

Actual results:

virt-v2v: Failed to launch guestfs appliance. Try running again with LIBGUESTFS_DEBUG=1 for more information

Expected results:

virt-v2v completes succesfully

Additional info:

a) I have completed successfully two more migrations of Oracle Linux 5.8 VMs from VMware

b) I also tried the migration using export LIBGUESTFS_ATTACH_METHOD=appliance and I got the same error as mentioned above.

c) I have also attached the debug log of the migration

Which version of virt-v2v is this?

Please try the new version (1.28.x or 1.29.x).

Comment 2 Sokratis 2014-12-11 11:47:20 UTC
Version is virt-v2v-0.9.1-5.el6_5.x86_64 (I'm using CentOS 6.5).

As I mention above, I have completed migrations of 2 other VMs running the same OS succesfully.

For version 1.28.x or 1.29.x which OS do I need to use? Can I use CentOS 6 or not?

Comment 3 Richard W.M. Jones 2014-12-11 11:57:50 UTC
You have to use RHEL or CentOS 7.0 plus these packages:

https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2014-May/msg00090.html

We are not maintaining the 0.9 version any longer, so I'm closing
this bug.
