Description Nikolai Sednev 2014-12-17 16:42:55 UTC
Description of problem:
[inconsistency] RHEVH upgrade documentation not the same as RHEVM3.5 actual upgrade functionality

https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Virtualization_for_Servers/2.1/html/5.4-2.1_Hypervisor_Deployment_Guide/chap-Deployment_Guide-Upgrading_Red_Hat_Enterprise_Virtualization_Hypervisors.html

In practice there is no more link "Upgrade" exists in RHEVM3.5 vt13.3.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
vt13.3
rhevm-3.5.0-0.25.el6ev.noarch

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Take RHEVH3.3 and try to upgrade it to RHEVH6.6 via WEBUI.
2.
3.

Actual results:
There is no more link "Upgrade" exists as depicted in "Figure 7.2. Upgrade Button"
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Virtualization_for_Servers/2.1/html/5.4-2.1_Hypervisor_Deployment_Guide/chap-Deployment_Guide-Upgrading_Red_Hat_Enterprise_Virtualization_Hypervisors.html

Expected results:
Documentation should be the same or to have notes that from 3.5 upgrade button shifted to another place.

Actually section 15.1.3 under https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Virtualization/3.5/html-single/Administration_Guide/index.html#sect-Upgrades_between_Minor_Releases provides the relevant information.

Is something missing there?

What replaced the upgrade button in WebAdmin?

To me it looks like attachment 1071661 [details] is showing the upgrade link like it is explained in the doc from comment 2:
"7. Click the Upgrade link in the details pane to open the Install Host window."

Totally agree with you, the problem that it isn't there any-more, now it's on top instead of in "General".

I'm not directly involved in the Engine UI, redirecting this to the UX team.

> I'm not directly involved in the Engine UI, redirecting this to the UX team.

I did not understand whether the UI needs to be changed based on the documentation or whether the documentation needs to be updated based on the UI.

If it is the former, please change the whiteboard to 'infra' and component to 'webadmin'.

If it is the latter, BZ whiteboard and component are OK as is, I believe.

In any case, this is not a case for the UX team.

Comment 11 Fabian Deutsch 2015-09-17 13:17:00 UTC
Moving this to infra and webadmin for now, as they are taking care of the code.

Comment 12 Oved Ourfali 2015-09-21 09:15:38 UTC
As far as I know there is no link in 3.5 (only text). There was one in the past, but it stopped working. In 3.6 as part of upgrade manager, we re-introduced it after refactoring of the code.

The documentation should be updated accordingly.
