Can you comment on why you think insight is the problem here? Insight was using /usr/bin/gcore before gdb. Is insight bundling something? Do you think it will be easier for insight to change than for gdb? (In reply to Bruno Wolff III from comment #1) > Insight was using /usr/bin/gcore before gdb. BTW I did not know that. But I do not find it relevant here. /usr/bin/gcore needs GDB functionality, not the larger Insight functionality. I rather do not see a reason why /usr/bin/gcore should be provided by Insight. One could possibly argue about using /etc/alternatives but even in that case I do not see what Insight could provide more than GDB. And GDB package is smaller, more often updated/bugfixed etc. > /usr/bin/gcore needs GDB functionality, not the larger Insight functionality. I rather do not see a reason why /usr/bin/gcore should be provided by Insight. I totally agree. Since gdb provides it now, I leave it to you with pleasure :-) > One could possibly argue about using /etc/alternatives but even in that case I do not see what Insight could provide more than GDB. And GDB package is smaller, more often updated/bugfixed etc. This is not an alternative: just the same program. Insight users who need gcore can simply install gdb... I'll remove gcore from the insight package ASAP.
