Description François Cami 2015-01-19 09:15:52 UTC
Description of problem:
The python-devel subpackage provides python2-devel.
Yet both python and python-devel are arch-specific so python-devel should provide python2-devel%{?_isa} instead (AFAICT).

Quoting the packaging guidelines:
"For packages that are not noarch, Provides: should be made arch-specific by applying the %{?_isa} macro to the end of the text string in Provides (e.g. Provides: foo%{?_isa} = 2:%{version}-%{release})."

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
python-devel-2.7.8-7.fc21.x86_64

Comment 1 François Cami 2015-01-19 10:56:33 UTC
Note that I'm not sure we can effect such a change on a release, so the fix might belong to rawhide only.

Comment 2 Bohuslav "Slavek" Kabrda 2015-01-20 13:32:24 UTC
Let's do this just for rawhide to make sure we don't break anything in existing releases.

Comment 3 Bohuslav "Slavek" Kabrda 2015-01-20 14:47:24 UTC
Note: python3-devel has no added "Provides:", so it should work ok without any changes.

Comment 4 Bohuslav "Slavek" Kabrda 2015-01-20 16:02:17 UTC
Ok, I had to untag the build, since it no longer provided python2-devel (without the ISA part). I'm assuming that the right way to do this is to Provide both python2-devel and python2-devel%{_isa}, so that anyone is free to depend on either of them. I'll do that.

Comment 5 Bohuslav "Slavek" Kabrda 2015-01-20 19:50:46 UTC
There, python-devel package now provides both python2-devel and python2-devel%{_isa}.
