Comment 2 Tytus Kurek 2015-01-26 10:42:31 UTC
Description of problem:

After provisioning OpenStack cluster with RHEL OSP Installer, the external network is not created with a type of "flat" by default, but with a type specified in the RHEL OSP Installer's OpenStack deployment configuration. According to the Red Hat technician (support case 01337345) "the default configuration of rhel-osp-installer requires that you create the external network as flat networks". This is neither a default behavior, nor is it listed anywhere in the RHEL OSP Installer manual, however.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

rhel-osp-installer-0.4.7-1.el6ost.noarch
ruby193-rubygem-staypuft-0.4.14-1.el6ost.noarch

How reproducible:

Very reproducible.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Configure RHEL OSP Installer's OpenStack deployment as follows: In the "Services Configuration" step, from the "Neutron" lap, from the "Tenant Network Type" menu select anything else than "Flat"
2. Deploy OpenStack cluster.
3. Create an external network with a name of "EXTERNAL" from the OpenStack Horizon dashboard.

Actual results:

# neutron net-show EXTERNAL | grep network_type | awk '{print $4}'
vxlan

Expected results:

# neutron net-show EXTERNAL | grep network_type | awk '{print $4}'
flat

Additional info:

This issue has been tracked in the support case 01337345.

Comment 4 Jaromir Coufal 2016-09-29 13:41:33 UTC
Closing list of bugs for RHEL OSP Installer since its support cycle has already ended [0]. If there is some bug closed by mistake, feel free to re-open.

For new deployments, please, use RHOSP director (starting with version 7).
