Description tbrodbec 2015-01-27 15:07:59 UTC
Description of problem: When a puppet module is uploaded into satellite, the author of the module is not set to the "Author" specified in metadata.json.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 6.x

How reproducible: Consistent

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create module and specify "Author" in metadata.json
2. Upload module
3. View module

Actual results: Module author is set to package name, not "Author"

Expected results: The author should be set based on the "Author" field in metadata.json.

Comment 3 tbrodbec 2015-01-28 15:11:20 UTC
https://docs.puppetlabs.com/puppet/latest/reference/modules_publishing.html#fields-in-metadatajson

DEPRECATED

checksums— File checksums generated by the Puppet module tool as part of puppet module build. You should remove this field from your metadata.json.
description — Legacy field used to describe the purpose of the module. You should use the summary field instead.
types — Resource type documentation generated by the Puppet module tool as part of puppet module build. You should remove this field from your metadata.json.

Satellite uses "description" instead of "Summary" for displaying information about the modules uploaded to satellite. The "Summary" field should be used instead.

Comment 20 Peter Ondrejka 2016-10-25 12:25:49 UTC
Verified in Satellite 6.3 snap 5, the author shows up correctly in the web UI both for a puppetforge and a custom module, see the attached screenshot.
