Description Stephen Wadeley 2015-02-13 16:34:20 UTC
Description of problem:

When trying to connect from a Fed21 Vm to a RHEL7.1 VM, I seldom see the prompt asking me to authorise the incoming connection. I saw the pop-up once after about six tests. I got a ABRT notice that vino-server killed by SIGSEGV but I cannot submit the report via ABRT due to 'Version name not provided or invalid'

I will try to extract that report and attach it manually.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

 ~]$ rpm -q vino
vino-3.8.1-10.el7.x86_64

~]$ rpm -q vinagre
vinagre-3.8.2-12.el7.x86_64

How reproducible:
I saw pop-up once after about six tests.

Steps to Reproduce:
ON RHEL7.1 and FEd21
[root@localhost ~]# firewall-cmd --add-service vnc-server
success
[root@localhost ~]#

Actual results:
ON RHEL7.1
Press SuperKey type Sharing , select Screen Sharing,
set Remote View = ON,
Require password = OFF.
Approve All Connections = ON

Connect from FED21,
black screen on FED 21 side, no pop-up on RHEL7 side
FAIL

ON RHEL7

Approve All Connections = OFF

Connect from FED21,
I see warning that another viewer is connecting, I see RHEL7 screen in viewer on Fed21 side.
Success.

Expected results:
I should see the pop-up asking me to accept the incoming connection

Additional info:
This works fine on Fed21 side, i.e. every time I tried to connect to Fed21 VM it behaved as expected.

I can confirm that this can happen. I reproduced it last week, but I'm not sure if it is specific for connection from F21 to RHEL7. I can't reproduce it currently...

When it happened to me last week, I didn't see any ABRT notice unfortunately. Not sure what is exact meaning of 'Version name not provided or invalid', but I believe you can upload it manually from /var/tmp/abrt/... Could you do that please? It could give us some more clue...

Comment 4 Ondrej Holy 2015-02-17 13:30:24 UTC
Thanks, however the backtrace seems to be irrelevant...

Comment 5 Ondrej Holy 2015-02-18 07:32:57 UTC
I can reproduce it on F21->F21:
1/ Enable sharing in Sharing panel
2/ Connect using Vinagre to localhost:5900 -> notification is shown
3/ Click on notification besides buttons -> notification disappears
4/ There is still in Vinagre blank screen
5/ Try to connect again, however notification isn't shown anymore

To fix the problem you have to restart vino-server (e.g. by disable and enable screen sharing in Sharing panel).

This reproducer also works for RHEL7. It is possible that exists also another way how to "hide" the notification...

Comment 6 Ondrej Holy 2015-02-18 08:34:32 UTC
It can be reproduced also if you close the notification by close button, because closed signal isn't handled properly.

I've attached patch upstream to fix this issue...
