spice file transfer does files just fine. what's the behavior with directories? (In reply to Michal Skrivanek from comment #1) > spice file transfer does files just fine. what's the behavior with > directories? It's not accepted atm (fails to read directory error), spice "xfer" only deals with files. It shouldn't be too hard to add directory traversal (it would need changes to client and agents). However I am quite afraid that spice "xfer" is really meant for simple file transfer, from client to remote. Imho the design can't (and shouldn't) be extended, it is not done as a generic "dnd" solution. However, folder sharing feature (upstream) could provide all file operations with nicer integration with the guest OS (drag anywhere, drag/move, progress dialog, cancellability etc). I would rather propose folder sharing to provide folder copy than extending spice "xfer" feature. *** Bug 1265572 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Upstream we don't have copying directory from client to guest at the moment. As mentioned in comment #2, it might not be hard to extend current d&d approach but it hard limitations which makes extending current d&d (on client and agent) less appealing. Upstream we do have shared-folders and that has different limitations but it is better in general. One big difference is the integration with the Desktop OS, for instance, you have a picture in your shared-folder, you can open some image tool and access it directly. Implementing d&d which uses the shared-folder Spice channel is considered a good approach. That still needs work on the guest-agent (upstream). We have a the BZ 1462818 open for client support on shared-folder. In case customer is interested, we could prioritize it. This bug has not been marked as blocker for oVirt 4.3.0. Since we are releasing it tomorrow, January 29th, this bug has been re-targeted to 4.3.1. 4.3.1 has been released a while ago as RHV 4.3 Beta2. Re-targeting to 4.3.3 for re-evaluation. *** Bug 1462818 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** |
