unblank screen when inserting smartcard none

Description adam winberg 2015-03-13 12:32:49 UTC
Description of problem:
Using smartcard authentication, when computer is locked and dimmed (i.e. black screen) inserting smartcard does not automatically 'wake' the screen. I have to move the mouse or press a key to get it to wake up and go to pin prompt.

If the lock shield is present, smart card insertion automatically removes the screen shield and brings me to pin prompt, which is how i think it should behave even when screen has turned off.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gdm-3.8.4-32.el7.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Remove smart card to lock screen
2. Wait until screen goes black
3. Insert smart card

Actual results:
Nothing happens.

Expected results:
Screen should wake up and bring me to pin prompt.

unblank screen when inserting smartcard

This should fix it

Comment 4 adam winberg 2015-09-11 06:12:58 UTC
I was expecting this fix in the 7.2 beta, but it's still the same old behaviour.

In 7.2 I cant even find the screenShield.js file.

Does it work for you following your workaround in bug 1260081 comment 14? I think we're just getting bit by that bug.

Comment 6 adam winberg 2015-09-11 11:58:43 UTC
No, the sharing plugin in gnome-settings-daemon is disabled but my screen is still blank when I insert the smartcard. I have to wake it with the mouse or keyboard.

Comment 7 Ray Strode [halfline] 2015-09-11 12:13:30 UTC
This looks like a typo on my part. After writing and testing the patch locally, I added the patch to version control, but failed to apply it in the spec file.
