Description: Z3 is a satisfiability modulo theories (SMT) solver; given a set of constraints with variables, it reports a set of values for those variables that would meet the constraints. The Z3 input format is an extension of the one defined by the SMT-LIB 2.0 standard. Z3 supports arithmetic, fixed-size bit-vectors, extensional arrays, datatypes, uninterpreted functions, and quantifiers.

Comment 1 Christopher Meng 2015-03-29 09:31:38 UTC
I intended to package it in last August but at that time its license was not free.

Now it's Ok I think.

Comment 2 Eric Smith 2015-03-30 02:12:17 UTC
I don't think I understand the issue with "NOTE: omitting examples due to GPL-licensed code".

Couldn't the examples be put into a z3-examples subpackage, which could be GPL-licensed (or, if necessary, GPL and BSD, etc.)?

Yes, the license was changed to MIT just a few days ago.

Thanks for questioning that. I was completely wrong. The GPL marker is from bison, which also grants an exception:

/* As a special exception, you may create a larger work that contains
   part or all of the Bison parser skeleton and distribute that work
   under terms of your choice, so long as that work isn't itself a
   parser generator using the skeleton or a modified version thereof
   as a parser skeleton. Alternatively, if you modify or redistribute
   the parser skeleton itself, you may (at your option) remove this
   special exception, which will cause the skeleton and the resulting
   Bison output files to be licensed under the GNU General Public
   License without this special exception.

   This special exception was added by the Free Software Foundation in
   version 2.2 of Bison.  */

So that does not affect the MIT license on the work as a whole. I have included the examples in the -doc subpackage now, as well as pulled in one more git push. (It only changes the README.) New URLs:

Christopher, it has been 2 weeks since you assigned yourself to this bug. Are you waiting for something? If so, what?

Sorry for the delay.

Package Review
==============

Legend:
[x] = Pass, [!] = Fail, [-] = Not applicable, [?] = Not evaluated

Issues:
=======
- Header files in -devel subpackage, if present.
  Note: z3-doc : /usr/share/doc/z3-doc/examples/tptp/tptp5.h z3-doc :
  /usr/share/doc/z3-doc/examples/tptp/tptp5.tab.h
  See: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging/Guidelines#DevelPackages

--> I think it's acceptable, ignored.

- If (and only if) the source package includes the text of the license(s) in
  its own file, then that file, containing the text of the license(s) for the
  package is included in %doc.
  Note: Cannot find LICENSE.txt in rpm(s)
  See:
  http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging/LicensingGuidelines#License_Text

--> Bug I think.

Thank you very much for the review, Christopher. It will be great to have this in Fedora. There was an unfortunate typo in the Summary (Module should be Modulo) which I just noticed, and will fix when I import into git.

Git done (by process-git-requests).

Comment 11 Jerry James 2015-04-23 20:00:56 UTC
Yesterday, z3 built successfully in mock for both i386 and x86_64. Today, it is failing in koji with a segfault while running the tests on i386, although x86_64 still succeeds. The immediate suspect is gcc, which changed from version 5.0.1-0.2 yesterday to version 5.1.1-1 today, but I don't know for sure that has anything to do with it. I can reproduce the problem by doing a mock build with the "local" repo enabled, which pulls the latest builds from kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org.

Anyway, this package will unfortunately not be built until somebody (me, I suspect) has time to figure out what is going on, or until another package update magically fixes the problem without me needing to dig into it.
