Description Vladimir Benes 2015-04-09 10:43:21 UTC
Description of problem:
when creating box via import from system broker functionality I see nothing imported. After running from console I see this:

[test@hp-z400-02 ~]$ gnome-boxes

(gnome-boxes:4394): Boxes-WARNING **: libvirt-system-importer.vala:67: Failed to find suitable disk to import for box 'workaround'
==== AUTHENTICATING FOR org.freedesktop.policykit.exec ===
Authentication is needed to run `/bin/chmod' as the super user
Authenticating as: test
Password:

^^ I've authenticated here but would expect GUI authentication

==== AUTHENTICATION COMPLETE ===

(gnome-boxes:4394): Boxes-WARNING **: libvirt-system-importer.vala:74: Failed to make all libvirt system disks readable: Failed to execute: pkexec chmod a+r

this should be corrected

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gnome-boxes-3.14.3.1-1.el7.x86_64

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.create system broker machine
2.open boxes and import it via new->continue->import from system broker

Actual results:
nothing happens

Expected results:
GUI authentication and successful import

You should be getting a polkit dialog, if not, your environment is likely fracked. Could you sew what happens when you launch `pkexec echo hi` from a terminal? If you don't see a GUI dialog, its certainly not a Boxes issue.

Comment 2 Vladimir Benes 2015-04-15 21:05:16 UTC
ok so one observation. There was a vm that pointed to non existent image in /home/vm.. these machines should be probably ignored if anything fails.

after deleting that machine I have just one to import. Windows 8 so I tried but Boxes segfaulted instead. Backtrace attached.
