Description Richard W.M. Jones 2015-04-13 15:27:20 UTC
Description of problem:

RPMdiff spotted:

VERIFY libguestfs Requires: kernel disappearing on x86_64

Indeed if you compare these two builds:

https://brewweb.devel.redhat.com/buildinfo?buildID=404104 (-1.18)
https://brewweb.devel.redhat.com/buildinfo?buildID=429562 (-1.24)

you shall see that the kernel dependency is missing. Digging
deeper, the difference is the supermin-generated file
/usr/lib64/guestfs/supermin.d/packages
which in the latter build drops the 'kernel' package.

I'm fairly sure this is because /var/cache/yum in brew no
longer has the kernel package for some reason, even though
we requested it as a BuildRequire. In fact if you check the
root.log you'll see that yum installed 'kernel-rt' instead.

Anyhow this is a bug because if libguestfs is installed
without a kernel, it won't work.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

libguestfs-1.28.1-1.24.el7

How reproducible:

100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Build libguestfs in brew.

Comment 1 Richard W.M. Jones 2015-04-13 15:52:36 UTC
I added the fix for this already in the -1.25.el7 package.

Comment 3 Hu Zhang 2015-05-05 10:05:14 UTC
Verified with libguestfs-1.28.1-1.29.el7.

Step to verify:
1. Get the build from the brew.
2. Do some operations with guestfish.
# guestfish -N fs
><fs> mount /dev/sda1 /
><fs> get-backend
libvirt
...

The guestfish works well. So fixed.
