Description Fredrik Backman 2004-04-23 10:03:41 UTC
Description of problem:
I have two interfaces eth0 and eth1, each a bcm5700 100 Mbit NIC.
When bonding these two interfaces i get several errors
in /var/log/messages when I either boot the server or issue
a "service network restart". Interface bond0 works however I have not
tried to do any failover yet. Kernel 2.4.9-e.27smp.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
initscripts-6.47.8-1

How reproducible:
Everytime

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set up bonding between eth0 eth1 according to bonding.txt
2. Try to start or restart your network, or reboot
3. Watch your /var/log/messages

When was the last point at which this worked, if at all?

Comment 4 Fredrik Backman 2004-04-26 07:43:10 UTC
I got almost the same errors with the older version of initscripts.
See above attachment.

Comment 5 Fredrik Backman 2004-04-27 08:57:11 UTC
A fresh install with RH AS2.1 update 2 will produce these error
messages

messages

Comment 7 Bill Nottingham 2004-06-07 20:46:56 UTC
The bonding driver is unsupported at the kernel level in AS2.1; ergo,
changes will probably not be made in the initscripts in the future.

changed ifup script

Actually, I did find a case where this can happen.

If you try the attached 'ifup' file (just put it in /sbin), does the situation
improve?

Comment 9 Bill Nottingham 2005-02-22 16:44:10 UTC
These changes should be in current errata initscripts.
