Vincent,

thanks for the report however, be noted, you are using quite an ancient
release and in fact most likely running into well known issue that was
fixed in RHEL 5.8: [bug 618321].

If you are able to reproduce your issue in that release or newer,
please reopen the bug as currently I have no evidence you experience
a new, unique bug.
