sosreport

Description of problem:
- 58000 entries in /etc/passwd and over 1200 in /etc/group.
The account-daemon, gnome-shell, and gnome-initial-setup process are all consuming large amounts of CPU and memory as they try to load all of those entries. In addition, it appears that they're trying to iterate over all of the home directories looking for .face files.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
- 100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. build a machine with 58000 user accounts that authenticate to active directory
2. attempt to boot machine to the GUI
3.

Actual results:
- account-daemon, gnome-shell and gnome-initial-setup consume the CPU

Expected results:
- no issues

Additional info:
- sosreport attached
- nsswitch.conf configuration issue has been corrected by no longer calling sssd

Comment 4 Ray Strode [halfline] 2016-06-30 19:54:48 UTC
I did a few changes here that should make it perform much better in a variety of large user deployments.

Comment 7 Michal Odehnal 2016-09-08 07:24:28 UTC
Unable to reproduce with accountsservice-0.6.35-12.el7.x86_64
