Description Ray Strode [halfline] 2015-05-28 12:01:55 UTC
Apparently in 1.17 the X server was changed to, by default, start requiring an explicit -listen tcp to enable listening on tcp socket. This is an incompatible change from 7.1 which will probably affect customers. It also breaks GDM. Unfortunately, we don't even really have a great migration story, since -listen isn't a valid flag in earlier versions of Xorg, so there's no good way of knowing whether or not passing (or not passing) -listen will break the X server.

We need to pass --enable-listen-tcp to configure when building the X server to prevent widespread doom , apocalypse-esque ruin and universal demise.

Yup.
