From Fedora-Live-Xfce-x86_64-21-5.iso installed with --overlay-size-mb 6624 ls -lA /usr/share/applications/liveinst.desktop -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 10590 Jun 10 17:05 /usr/share/applications/liveinst.desktop The Install to Hard Drive application icon is in the System menu and on the Desktop. What revision of livecd-tools are you using? The presence of liveinst and liveinst.desktop depend on the iso being used, not livecd-iso-to-disk. Request for Enhancement: livecd-iso-to-disk manual page $ rpm -qa \*live\* liveusb-creator-3.13.2-1.el6.noarch livecd-tools-13.4.5-1.el6.x86_64 Host machine: Scientific Linux 6.6, 64 bit $ uname -r 2.6.32-504.16.2.el6.x86_64 Currently, if you cut a Live USB and use persistence (--overlay-size-mb and/or --home-size-mb), the ability to install locally is removed. The overlay is additional storage available to the live operating system if the operating system supports it. The USB storage device must have enough free space for the image and the overlay.
