Description Giulio 'juliuxpigface' 2015-06-23 20:11:28 UTC
Description of problem:
While downloading with Konqueror, the process plasmashell uses a large amount of CPU (about 80%). Since my test system is a kvm-qemu guest, the host's temperatures shift to 95° (according to lm-sensors). I've seen similar values before only while installing via Anaconda.

Please note that perhaps this is a normal behavior, but I'm reporting this since I'm not sure enough.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
plasma-desktop-5.3.1-6.fc22.x86_64
plasma-workspace-5.3.1-5.fc22.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try to download a large file via Konqueror (for example, the latest linux kernel tarball).
2. Take a look to CPU usage with top while downloading.

Actual results:
1. There is a high CPU usage by the process plasmashell.

Expected results:
1. plasmashell should not stress the CPU.

Additional info:
Downloading the same package with Firefox, only rises the process 'firefox' to ~15% of CPU usage.

Comment 1 Giulio 'juliuxpigface' 2015-07-12 14:51:48 UTC
One more additional info: this behavior persists even if I pause the download from the taskbar.

The CPU's usage of plasmashell calms down only when the download is actually stopped or completed.
