Description of problem:

panel does not change the keyboard layout. constantly shows English

Did you install im-chooser and imsettings-lxde ?
And did you select ibus with im-chooser?

I was advised that I use imchooser

Do you still see your problem after you install imsettings-lxde and select ibus with im-chooser?
