Description Wade Berrier 2015-07-22 03:26:50 UTC
Description of problem: sdl is detecting that backing store is enabled, and tearing in may apps results.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 1.2.15-11

How reproducible: Every time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. run sdl 1.2 based app with lots of movement (ie: video playback or game)
2. notice there are many screen tears

Actual results:

Tearing

Expected results:

No tearing

Additional info:

This bug has a long history and most distributions (including Fedora, see bug 1073057) patch libsdl to solve the issue. The referenced bug has a patch that fixes the issue, and still allows the backing store to be enabled by an app by app basis based on an environment variable.

Without this fix, graphical sdl apps are quite painful to use.
