Partial solution (one of two machines) is to add pci=off when booting the setup cd. This is on an Intel 440BX motherboard, which while old is still fairly common. Strange. 440BX shouldn't be problematic at all - it doesnt seem to be for others. Is there any unusual hardware in the system ? The system is plain vanilla..one ATA hard drive, one ATA CD. Once installed it has been stable. The system is being controlled using an ICS-124 KVM switch, and did require that I add 'psmouse.proto=bare' to the kernel line in grub.conf. Is this possibly bug 115458 ? Can you compare the panic information to the info in that bug and comment? This problem is still present in Fedora Core 3 test 2 Fedora Core 2 has now reached end of life, and no further updates will be provided by Red Hat. The Fedora legacy project will be producing further kernel updates for security problems only. If this bug has not been fixed in the latest Fedora Core 2 update kernel, please try to reproduce it under Fedora Core 3, and reopen if necessary, changing the product version accordingly. Thank you. |
