Description Thomas Williams 2004-06-14 11:14:20 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040510

Description of problem:
In this version of the X Protocol it is stated that direct rendering
is not yet supported on Radeon 9500/9700 and newer cards
(var/log/Xorg.0.log). This is probably why there is only 2D support
for the graphics card. I do not know if it is possible to add 3D
support for this card, I was wondering if it was possible to make the
card act as a lower spec card (e.g 9200) which does have full support).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 6.7

How reproducible:
Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
Problem of 2D support only always there when using Radeon 9700 Pro
Graphics Card, so no need to reproduce.

Actual Results: 2D support only, Screensaver and Games do not run
correctly.

Expected Results: Should have full 3D support enabling all programs
to function correctly.

Comment 1 Mike A. Harris 2004-06-14 12:17:26 UTC
ATI Radeon hardware based on the R300 and newer chipsets is supported
2D only.
