dmesg for 4.5.4-300
Still seeing this with 4.6.7-300.fc24.x86_64 Can someone please glance at the debug to see if it really is a kernel issue?? Others also seem to have this issue: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=307729 Here's someone getting it on Arch: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=182605 Someone else on F23: https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/question/78252/fedora-23-cant-suspend/ On my laptop, I have the exact same issue since at least fedora 20. Is there a known to get around the issue ? I tried to kill alsactl but it did seem to work. Thank you in advance. *********** MASS BUG UPDATE ************** We apologize for the inconvenience. There is a large number of bugs to go through and several of them have gone stale. Due to this, we are doing a mass bug update across all of the Fedora 24 kernel bugs. Fedora 24 has now been rebased to 4.7.4-200.fc24. Please test this kernel update (or newer) and let us know if you issue has been resolved or if it is still present with the newer kernel. If you have moved on to Fedora 25, and are still experiencing this issue, please change the version to Fedora 25. If you experience different issues, please open a new bug report for those. [asinha@ankur ~]$ uname -a Linux ankur.pc 4.7.4-200.fc24.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Sep 15 18:42:09 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux in my case I solved my similar problem with 4.7.3 kernel providing that option to snd-hda-intel : options snd-hda-intel enable=0,1,0 in /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf I am not 100% sure, but it seems it solved my issue, maybe the sound chip from the graphic card was active and caused trouble during the suspend process. The options provided to snd-hda-intel now only enables the right sound hardware. *********** MASS BUG UPDATE ************** We apologize for the inconvenience. There are a large number of bugs to go through and several of them have gone stale. Due to this, we are doing a mass bug update across all of the Fedora 24 kernel bugs. Fedora 25 has now been rebased to 4.10.9-100.fc24. Please test this kernel update (or newer) and let us know if you issue has been resolved or if it is still present with the newer kernel. If you have moved on to Fedora 26, and are still experiencing this issue, please change the version to Fedora 26. If you experience different issues, please open a new bug report for those. *********** MASS BUG UPDATE ************** This bug is being closed with INSUFFICIENT_DATA as there has not been a response in 2 weeks. If you are still experiencing this issue, please reopen and attach the relevant data from the latest kernel you are running and any data that might have been requested previously. Still seems to persist with the F25. Unfortunately, I have issues with the nouveau driver and cannot test the F26 kernels at the moment. Reopening nevertheless. I have this issue using F27. We apologize for the inconvenience. There is a large number of bugs to go through and several of them have gone stale. As kernel maintainers, we try to keep up with bugzilla but due the rate at which the upstream kernel project moves, bugs may be fixed without any indication to us. Due to this, we are doing a mass bug update across all of the Fedora 27 kernel bugs. Fedora 27 has now been rebased to 4.15.3-300.f27. Please test this kernel update (or newer) and let us know if you issue has been resolved or if it is still present with the newer kernel. If you experience different issues, please open a new bug report for those. The bug happened on my system when both Intel & Nvidia sound cards were enabled, and so the workaround in comment #14 worked for me. For whatever reasons, (might be related to secure boot?), even after disabling the workaround, the kernel seems to be unable to activate the nvidia audio card (which seems to be a bug); and so the problem still doesn't happen. So, actually it seems that I'm unable to test if this bug is solved. I still seem to have it. My extremely weird workaround, that always works, is to access the Sound Settings in Gnome3, and that seems to make my system suspend just fine after then. :D Happened again for me under 4.15.14-300.fc27.x86_64. Will try the workaround to see what happens :) Again under 4.16.2-300.fc28.x86_64. Interestingly, sometime I see 2 audio devices (intel & nvidia); and sometimes I see only one (intel). In the latter case, there is no problem. But in the former case, I'm not sure, either always or sometimes this bug happens. I see some errors related to audio drivers, which might be related to this bug. ]% dmesg | grep snd [ 20.353543] snd_hda_intel 0000:00:1b.0: enabling device (0000 -> 0002) [ 20.353767] snd_hda_intel 0000:01:00.1: enabling device (0000 -> 0002) [ 20.353797] snd_hda_intel 0000:01:00.1: Disabling MSI [ 20.353800] snd_hda_intel 0000:01:00.1: Handle vga_switcheroo audio client [ 21.288753] snd_hda_codec_idt hdaudioC0D0: autoconfig for 92HD91BXX: line_outs=1 (0xa/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0) type:line [ 21.288755] snd_hda_codec_idt hdaudioC0D0: speaker_outs=1 (0xd/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0) [ 21.288757] snd_hda_codec_idt hdaudioC0D0: hp_outs=1 (0xb/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0) [ 21.288758] snd_hda_codec_idt hdaudioC0D0: mono: mono_out=0x0 [ 21.288759] snd_hda_codec_idt hdaudioC0D0: inputs: [ 21.288760] snd_hda_codec_idt hdaudioC0D0: Mic=0xc [ 21.288761] snd_hda_codec_idt hdaudioC0D0: Internal Mic=0x11 [ 21.288762] snd_hda_codec_idt hdaudioC0D0: Line=0xf [ 43.999069] snd_hda_intel 0000:01:00.1: Disabling via vga_switcheroo [ 44.312344] snd_hda_intel 0000:01:00.1: Cannot lock devices! Tried to suspend 2 times, and it fails with the error. Then opened sound settings and changed volume. Then system suspended. So, probably workaround at comment #21 works for me too. There is certainly something wrong with nvidia HDMI audio in the kernel. I *feel* that the problem is solved in latest F28 kernels (e.g. 4.16.5). Happened again under 4.16.7 *********** MASS BUG UPDATE ************** We apologize for the inconvenience. There are a large number of bugs to go through and several of them have gone stale. Due to this, we are doing a mass bug update across all of the Fedora 28 kernel bugs. Fedora 28 has now been rebased to 4.17.7-200.fc28. Please test this kernel update (or newer) and let us know if you issue has been resolved or if it is still present with the newer kernel. If you experience different issues, please open a new bug report for those. Well, if all we need to do is to wait to see when this bug will be fixed in a kernel update, I don't see any benefit in this bug remaining open. Maybe an upstream bug report will be more useful; or just waiting forever so that maybe it is suddenly fixed. It seems to be fixed for me here. I haven't noticed this issue in weeks. Suspend works just fine. Closing it now. Thanks. 4.18.5-200.fc28.x86_64 "Freezing of tasks failed after 20.002 seconds (1 tasks refusing to freeze, wq_busy=0)" Just had that with 4.18.9-200.fc28.x86_64 Probably have to wait forever or jump distros assuming its better on another one lol. Its amazing how messed up suspend is. |
