Description Jan Pazdziora 2015-11-03 13:44:29 UTC
Description of problem:

The popup menu User Account Database on the Identity & Authentication tab has item IPAv2. There is no such thing available on RHEL 7.2 -- the current version is 4.1, and it's called IdM (or Identity Management in Red Hat Enterprise Linux) in RHEL.

Also, authconfig-gtk correctly notices that ipa-client-install is not installed but then says "Install the freeipa-client package, which provides this file.". But that package is not available (it's called ipa-client on RHEL).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

authconfig-gtk-6.2.8-10.el7.x86_64

How reproducible:

Deterministic.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run authconfig-gtk.
2. Try to setup identity and authentication to use IdM in RHEL.
3. Settle for IPAv2 and follow the guidance about ipa-client-install, run yum install -y freeipa-client.

Actual results:

Only IPAv2 is listed which is not vary intuitive. There is also FreeIPA there but that does not seem correct either -- see bug 1277507.

The yum then fails with

No package freeipa-client available.
Error: Nothing to do

Expected results:

Menu item is called "IdM/FreeIPA" or something similar which does not have "v2" in its name and also promotes IdM.

The package name recommented to be installed is ipa-client.

authconfig-gtk is currently being discontinued in upstream and we do not plan to fix any ipa related issue in authconfig-gtk. Please, use ipa-client-install instead.
