Description Mikhail Strizhov 2015-11-23 17:03:00 UTC
Description of problem:

When I log out from XFCE session, the screen becomes black with mouse pointer.
Restarting gdm from tty does not help. I am attaching logs when the failure occurs.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Kernel: 4.1.6-200.fc22.x86_64
GDM: gdm-3.16.3-1.fc22.x86_64
Xorg: xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.17.4-1.fc22.x86_64
XFCE: xfce4-session-4.12.1-3.fc22.x86_64
VGA: compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Turks GL [FirePro V3900]

How reproducible:

Very easy.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Login in XFCE.
2. Leave the session for a while (say half a day) - let XFCE screensaver play a while.
3. Log in back, select log out button in XFCE. Crash.

Actual results:

Gdm should list the welcome screen.

Expected results:

Crash/failure

Additional info:

I am attaching logs from /var/log/messages exactly when the failure appears.

Comment 1 Mikhail Strizhov 2015-11-23 17:16:52 UTC
Running: init 3 && init 5 in tty seems 'solve' the problem. The issue may be related to Xorg crash.

Comment 2 Mikhail Strizhov 2015-11-24 17:50:08 UTC
More details: I have run the same type of test with gnome session. The crash behavior is the same.

I am attaching logs from /var/log/messages:
