Description John Hall 2004-07-26 15:13:38 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7)
Gecko/20040707 Firefox/0.9.2

Description of problem:

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start installer with: linux reiserfs
2. change disk partitions to use reiserfs
3. installer hangs on "Installing Packages" screen

Additional info:

Instead of seeing a "formatting filesystem" message, the installer
hangs. I can move the mouse, but the install does not continue (and I
let it sit for 20 minutes). This happened when I set SELinux to
Active and also with SELinux set to Disabled. Rebooting and using the
default ext3 FS allowed the install to proceed normally.

Comment 1 Paul Nasrat 2004-07-26 15:18:03 UTC
Does this occur with booting with:

linux reiserfs selinux=0

Comment 2 John Hall 2004-07-26 15:36:27 UTC
The problem does not occur if I boot with:

linux reiserfs selinux=0

Comment 3 Jeremy Katz 2004-07-27 03:54:01 UTC
reiserfs doesn't work with SELinux.

As has always been the case
"# this is totally, 100% unsupported. Boot with "linux reiserfs"
 # at the boot: prompt will let you make new reiserfs filesystems
 # in the installer. Bugs filed when you use this will be closed
 # WONTFIX."

This is part of why -- it doesn't (and won't) support xattrs or other
features which the OS may depend on at some point.

Thus, closing as WONTFIX (although reasonable patches will be considered)
