Description wibrown@redhat.com 2015-11-28 05:51:51 UTC
Description of problem:
If amanda fails any host during the check, all hosts (even ones that would otherwise succeed) fail with:

failed: error sending REQ: write error to: Broken pipe

If you select a host manually with the REQ error, the backup succeeds.

This is (supposedly) fixed upstream in 3.3.6 by:

http://sourceforge.net/p/amanda/code/5654/tree//amanda/trunk/common-src/bsdtcp-security.c?diff=51702ed9e88f3d76fb986295:5653

How reproducible:
Nearly always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have a disklist
2. Power off one host
3. Attempt a backup

Actual results:
All backups fail

Expected results:
Only the host that is powered down fails.

dnf upgrade of my systems over the weekend and now am getting this error.

amanda-3.3.9-3.fc23.x86_64

As yet haven't been able to determine whether the issue is related to some other software i.e. a library updated at the same time.

Comment 4 Glen Eustace 2016-09-05 22:23:16 UTC
Issue resolved, but not fixed. We had a single server that had stopped responding. After rebooting it, amcheck -c worked as expected. So it was this issue but at least we are operational again.

Comment 8 Tereza Cerna 2017-06-16 14:15:37 UTC
I'm not able to reproduce this bug.

Patch was applied to source package and used in new version of amanda:
amanda-3.3.3-18.el7.x86_64

So... verified as SanityOnly
