Comment 2 Paul Howarth 2015-12-01 14:15:16 UTC
The affected code was introduced into mod_sftp in this commit:

https://github.com/proftpd/proftpd/commit/bd3031a

in January 2013. The version of mod_sftp included in the EPEL-5 and EPEL-6 versions of proftpd dates back to 2011 and is not affected by this issue.

The upstream fix will be applied to the EPEL-7 build, as per the Fedora builds.
