Description Daniel Walsh 2015-12-10 15:32:36 UTC
Totally unusable except if you run emacs -nw.

emacs-24.5-8.fc24.x86_64
kernel 4.4.0-0.rc4.git0.1.fc24.x86_64
rpm -qf /usr/bin/Xwayland
xorg-x11-server-Xwayland-1.18.0-2.fc24.x86_64

Comment 1 Fedora Admin XMLRPC Client 2015-12-15 11:27:05 UTC
This package has changed ownership in the Fedora Package Database. Reassigning to the new owner of this component.

Comment 2 John Eckersberg 2015-12-22 14:17:48 UTC
I am seeing the same thing, I think it has something to do with the kernel version. It was broken for me on f23 when running 4.4.0-rc6, but rebooting back into 4.2.7-300.fc23.x86_64 and it started working again. I didn't change anything else.

Comment 3 Nicolai Stange 2015-12-27 20:28:30 UTC
I'm encountering the same issue: depending on whether my session chosen at gdm is "GNOME" or "GNOME on X", I get either a completely black or a transparent Emacs window (including the title bar).

I bisected this to Linus' tree kernel commit ceb5d58b2170 ("net: fix sock_wake_async() rcu protection") which has made it into -rc2.

I sent a proposed fix to the LKML, c.f.

Comment 4 Nicolai Stange 2016-01-04 10:59:42 UTC
Aforementioned patch made it upstream as commit

574aab1e0283 ("net, socket, socket_wq: fix missing initialization of flags")

It is included in upstream 4.4-rc8.

Comment 5 Josh Boyer 2016-01-04 13:45:32 UTC
This will be fixed in today's rawhide kernel update.
