Description Jason Haar 2016-02-16 18:51:04 UTC
Description of problem:

Whenever I bring my suspended/asleep Dell laptop to work and plug it into my Dell docking station, the external monitor never livens up. If I open my laptop lid and eyeball Ctr-Alt-F3 to a tty console and then Ctr-Alt-F2 back to X windows, gnome-shell crashes and when it comes back up, the external monitor now works

How reproducible:

every time without exception. Basically you'd say docking doesn't work

Steps to Reproduce:
1. dock laptop, push button to wake up
2. external monitor doesn't work
3. open laptop lid while docked, Ctr-alt-F3, ENTER, ENTER, Ctr-alt-F2
4. external monitor livens up as gnome-shell crashes and restarts
5. all fine until next time
