File: dmesg
Description of problem: Happens occasionally (probably less than 50%?) when booting. the screen flickers on and off repeatedly. I've found that pushing the power button a few times will get me to the Gnome logon screen. However in these cases the network (wired) connection is not available (it is when it boots straight to the logon screen). I've had a look through dmesg logs from both a good and a bad boot, and noticed that only the good one contains "[ 1.137542] e1000e 0000:00:1f.6: enabling device (0000 -> 0002)" Let me know if there is any other useful information that I can provide. Slightly related, this motherboard also has onboard wireless, which does not work at all, but I'll worry about that ones the wired connection works properly. There is a large number of bugs to go through and several of them have gone stale. Due to this, we are doing a mass bug update across all of the Fedora 23 kernel bugs. Fedora 23 has now been rebased to 4.7.4-100.fc23. Please test this kernel update (or newer) and let us know if you issue has been resolved or if it is still present with the newer kernel. If you have moved on to Fedora 24 or 25, and are still experiencing this issue, please change the version to Fedora 24 or 25. If you experience different issues, please open a new bug report for those. *********** MASS BUG UPDATE ************** This bug is being closed with INSUFFICIENT_DATA as there has not been a response in 4 weeks. If you are still experiencing this issue, please reopen and attach the relevant data from the latest kernel you are running and any data that might have been requested previously. journalctl from faulty boot
This is still an ongoing issue - sometimes intermittent, currently every boot - with now Fedora 25. As noted in my previous comment, the wired network device is not working in this state, though the wireless is.
Happy to help or provide more information if someone can guide me in the right direction.
I realised that this time around the issue was occurring when I had a USB wifi device attached. After a few reboots with and without this, it seems to consistently trigger the issue. This is still occurring, but I have also recently experienced it live-booting to a different distribution. So I assume it is not a Fedora issue, but I guess the underlying driver or perhaps the hardware? Any advice on where I should direct this to would be appreciated. This bug is currently reported against a Fedora version which is already unsuported. I am changing the version to '27', the latest supported release. Please check whether this bug is still an issue on the '27' release. If you find this bug not being applicable on this release, please close it. *********** MASS BUG UPDATE ************** We apologize for the inconvenience.
