With this update, the smb.conf file has been simplified to enhance its usability. Previously, the smb.conf file contained default parameter settings, various comments, and explanations. Thus making it difficult for users to find a particular section, and adding new parameters. This upgrade introduces the smb.conf.example file, without deleting the existing smb.conf file from previous version. This new file contains the extended information about the configuration, whereas the smb.conf file will include only the necessary parameters.

Assigning to Jose. Closed the samba bugs in bulk when PM_Score was less than 0. As the team was working on few of them, opening all of them. As per the discussion with team, For a next major rebase we should pick up the RHEL change (ship a simpler smb.conf) Validated ------------- For new installations there is a short and clean smb.conf alongside detailed smb.conf.example file with all those comments and explanations available. After upgrade we get the smb.conf.example retaining the previous version of smb.conf. Marking this as verified. Since the problem described in this bug report should be resolved in a recent advisory, it has been closed with a resolution of ERRATA.
