Just found out now if you did not activated you Redhat service up2date does not tell you You have no channels selected so up2date should not let you press the next button unless you have a valid channel selected to update you system Thats why I was getting the error This bug is filed against RHEL2.1, which is in maintenance phase. During the maintenance phase, only security errata and select mission critical bug fixes will be released for enterprise products. Since this bug does not meet that criteria, it is now being closed.
