Description jorge.gonzalez 2016-03-16 13:47:47 UTC
Description of problem:

The ipcalc utility which is included on the initial installation environment on the Install DVD fails to validate some address/netmask pairs.

I have used it on some kickstart file, in which I validate some user input at the beginning of the installation.

The command

  ipcalc -c 192.168.122.13 255.254.255.0

in the initial environment exits with success status, but it is obviously an incorrect netmask.

The ipcalc utility in Fedora 23 correctly marks this as an error.

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Boot RHEL7.2 install dvd
2. Wait until graphical console, then switch to CLI console (Ctrl-Alt-F2)
3. Enter command "ipcalc -c 192.168.122.13 255.254.255.0"

Actual results:

No output, and exit status 1

Expected results:

ipcalc: bad IPv4 prefix: 255.254.255.0

exit status 1

Additional info:

Comment 1 David Shea 2016-03-16 13:50:55 UTC
ipcalc is part of the initscripts package, reassigning.

Comment 2 Lukáš Nykrýn 2016-03-16 14:03:39 UTC
sounds easy to fix -> devel_ack

Comment 3 jorge.gonzalez 2016-03-16 14:31:21 UTC
Sorry, typo on "Actual results":

exit status is 0, not 1.
