Description Mukundan Ragavan 2016-03-17 02:03:46 UTC
Description of problem:

When testing Fedora 24 images, I am unable to get GUI when I boot without appending nomodeset to kernel parameters.

This is true for both live images (from an USB) and from an installed system.

This is odd, because, I can boot the Fedora 23 images (and installed system) without any issues once I add i915.preliminary_hw_support=1.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kernel-4.5 - rc7

Hardware -

HP Envy laptop with Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz.

No dedicated graphics card (only the onboard intel)

Comment 1 Mukundan Ragavan 2016-03-17 02:07:32 UTC
nomodeset results in booted system in which I cannot adjust screen brightness ...

Comment 2 Mukundan Ragavan 2016-03-20 20:21:38 UTC
I don't think this is an issue with kernel ...
