Description Wolfgang Ulbrich 2016-03-17 12:28:12 UTC
Description of problem:
Xfce power-manager starts in MATE session because of missing MATE entry in
%config %{_sysconfdir}/xdg/autostart/%{name}.desktop

For this reasons several xfce applications are active in mate session.
In f23:

[rave@f23-test ~]$ ps aux | grep xfce
rave 3490 0.0 1.4 477352 15092 ? Ssl 13:10 0:00 xfce4-power-manager
rave 3533 0.0 1.1 304156 11716 ? S 13:10 0:00 /usr/lib64/xfce4/notifyd/xfce4-notifyd
rave 3564 0.0 0.5 63616 5376 ? S 13:10 0:00 /usr/lib64/xfce4/xfconf/xfconfd
rave 3961 0.0 0.2 118488 2324 pts/0 S+ 13:13 0:00 grep --color=auto xfce

Please add 'MATE' to NotShowIn entry which solves the issue.
And rebuild the package for all branches, please.
I guess this can be done in upstream too, as MATE is in all major distros.

Thank you

Filed upstream bug:

https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12506

Will look at a local patch, but it seems upstream is very close to a new release, so perhaps they will get this into that in the next few days.

Comment 2 Wolfgang Ulbrich 2016-03-17 21:54:19 UTC
Thx Kevin,
i guess the same can be done for power-manager-settings, no need to display this in mate menus.
I will add this to upstream report.

yeah, no rush, it's much better if upstream do this.

Comment 3 Wolfgang Ulbrich 2016-05-26 19:28:38 UTC
Can we add upstream fixes as patches for f24 before we get in release freeze?
And please add it to other branches as well.

Comment 4 Wolfgang Ulbrich 2016-05-26 19:31:09 UTC
I don't think that we can expect a quick xfce release because or their migration to gtk3.

Comment 5 Kevin Fenzi 2016-05-26 20:47:59 UTC
xfce4-power-manager already has been ported to gtk3. ;)

Yeah, I can look at an update with this change...
