Description Robin Rainton 2016-03-20 20:58:35 UTC
Description of problem:

Bluetooth is no longer working when trying to connect to vehicle head unit.

This used to work but now does not. I am not sure which update broke this functionality, but I run updates regularly and noticed the issue mid-March 2016.

Devices in question are:

Lenovo X220 laptop. This has a USB connected BT controller (output from dmesg):

[ 5.618077] usb 1-1.4: New USB device found, idVendor=0a5c, idProduct=217f
[ 5.618095] usb 1-1.4: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
[ 5.618099] usb 1-1.4: Product: Broadcom Bluetooth Device
[ 5.618102] usb 1-1.4: Manufacturer: Broadcom Corp
[ 5.618105] usb 1-1.4: SerialNumber: CC52AFE3D686

Alpine IVE-530BT head unit.

Have tried to un-pair/re-pair without success. The laptop and head unit can pair afresh, but no audio output is possible.

The following messages were noticed in /var/log/messages. On connection:

pulseaudio[3396]: [pulseaudio] module-bluez5-device.c: Profile has no transport

On opening 'Sound' control panel selecting 'Alpine AV Receiver' that is connected according to 'Bluetoohth' control panel:

pulseaudio[3396]: [pulseaudio] module-bluez5-device.c: Refused to switch profile to headset_head_unit: Not connected

How reproducible:

100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Pair via bluetooth Linux machine with vehicle head unit
2. In 'Sounds' control panel select head unit name to attempt to divert audio out to unit.

Actual results:

The 'Profile' drop down remains unchanged and shows built in audio profiles

Expected results:

'Profile' drop down should change to show headset or A2DP, etc.

Additional info:

Recently (as of mid-March 2016) broken. This pairing and audio used to work.

Other devices that are not head units still work. Ie. Jawbone Jambox was tested perfectly.

Comment 2 Fedora End Of Life 2016-11-24 16:09:24 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 23 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 23. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '23'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 23 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 3 Fedora End Of Life 2016-12-20 19:32:17 UTC
Fedora 23 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2016-12-20. Fedora 23 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
