Description Albert Flügel 2016-03-30 16:35:47 UTC
Description of problem:
Now the kernel optimizers broke Suspend-Resume on my Dell Inspiron D500m Laptop. After resuming from Suspend the display shows the contents of the time when suspending but the display is locked up. In the background the processes, network etc are running again, i can login via ssh, but the mouse pointer is gone and no interaction is possible, no Ctrl-Alt-whatever works. Reboot does not work either, though, the laptop does not reset after terminating all the processes. Must hard-reset the Laptop to make it usable again.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
4.4.6-300

How reproducible:
Suspend and resume.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Suspend Laptop either via Menu or the Suspend-Button
2. Resume Laptop opening the lid or pressing the lid button

Actual results:
Display locked up, no interaction possible anymore, see above

Expected results:
Laptop resumes operation normally

Additional info:
With kernel 4.4.5-300 this was still working.
Graphics Chip is: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device (rev 02)

This seems fixed with kernel 4.5.7-200.fc23

*********** MASS BUG UPDATE **************

We apologize for the inconvenience. There is a large number of bugs to go through and several of them have gone stale. Due to this, we are doing a mass bug update across all of the Fedora 23 kernel bugs.

Fedora 23 has now been rebased to 4.7.4-100.fc23. Please test this kernel update (or newer) and let us know if you issue has been resolved or if it is still present with the newer kernel.

If you have moved on to Fedora 24 or 25, and are still experiencing this issue, please change the version to Fedora 24 or 25.

If you experience different issues, please open a new bug report for those.

Comment 3 Albert Flügel 2016-09-23 20:59:56 UTC
still fine with 4.7.4. Feel free to close.
Thank you.

However, now after resume USB or mini PCI WLAN does not come up anymore, but this is probably subject to yet another bug report.
