Description Sweta Anandpara 2016-04-05 10:44:11 UTC
Document URL:

http://documentation-devel.engineering.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Storage/3/html-single/Administration_Guide/index.html#Configuring_Nagios_to_Send_Mail_Notifications

Section Number and Name: 13.4.1

Describe the issue:
--------------------
Mail notification does not work with the steps mentioned in the above section, if the underlying RHEL version is 7.2. Following additional steps need to be followed:
1. yum install postfix
2. service postfix start

Suggestions for improvement:
----------------------------
The above method can be mentioned as an additional
step(s), or a decision can be taken to package the same along with gluster-nagios.

The doc currently states:
"By default, Nagios Mail notification is sent using /bin/mail command. To change this, modify the definition for notify-host-by-email command and notify-service-by-email command in /etc/nagios/objects/commands.cfg file and configure the mail server accordingly."

An additional note to ensure that mail server has been setup and configured should do. IMO, we don't need to document steps to install mail server.

Comment 5 Sweta Anandpara 2016-06-10 06:38:16 UTC
Verified the same in the link above. An additional note has been added mentioning that the mail server has to be setup and configured. We don't necessarily have to advertise for 'postfix' or for that matter, any other mail server.

Moving this BZ to verified in 3.1.3.
