Description lijuan men 2016-04-06 08:17:55 UTC
Description of problem:
sometime the response of initialing the VM console is slow due to network delays,we don't have the chance to see the boot menu, always only see the login screen after console init successfully.
So suggest add 'timeout' element for boot menu.User can have enough time to wait for the console initialing and see the boot menu.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
vdsm-4.16.36-1.el6ev.x86_64 on rhel 6.7

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1.create a virtual machine
2.select the virtual machine, click 'edit' button
3.in the new window 'edit virtual machine',click 'boot options' , select 'enable boot menu',and click 'OK'
4.start the virtual machine, and click 'console' button.

Actual results:
VM console initialing is slow,we don't have the chance to see the boot menu

Expected results:
suggest add 'timeout' element for boot menu.User can have enough time to wait for the console initialing and see the boot menu.

this was not done as part of the feature bug 955235 because at that time bug 1021703 was not fixed. The default timeout is 3s and the suggestion is to run VM in paused mode, open console, and then unpause

timeout is now available so it can be added, for simplicity we may simply create a vdsm.conf option and use 10s as default.

changing title to reflect the actual change - should improve experience for first boot flow when you want to boot from an installation CD once

Verified. Test case added to external trackers.
