In the absence of a stable release of nano which supports UTF-8 properly, I've
packaged a snapshot from its development CVS for FC4-test. Please could you test
this?

Comment 2 Leon Ho 2005-05-17 01:55:49 UTC
I just got it tested. It still cannot show all the characters. Test case as follow:
Test case 1:
0. (Setup IIIMF input method)
1. LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 gnome-terminal --disable-factory
2. LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 nano
3. <shift>-<space>, sushi, <enter>

Test case 2:
- Open firefox and open http://www.yahoo.co.jp
- Cut and paste japanese texts into nano

Comment 3 Matthew Miller 2006-07-10 20:30:48 UTC
Fedora Core 3 is now maintained by the Fedora Legacy project for security
updates only. If this problem is a security issue, please reopen and
reassign to the Fedora Legacy product. If it is not a security issue and
hasn't been resolved in the current FC5 updates or in the FC6 test
release, reopen and change the version to match.

Thank you!

I have run the test case mentioned by Leon Ho with latest devel snapshot and passed.

Test Case:
0. (Setup SCIM input method)
1. LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 gnome-terminal --disable-factory
2. LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 nano
3. Copy japanese phrase "寿司"(sushi) and "おはいよございます"(ohaiyogozaimasu)
into nano and it works fine. All characters are displayed properly.
