Description ademaria 2016-04-09 00:52:05 UTC
Description of problem:

Added a usb webcam ehci device to my qemu configuration for running a windows10 guest. After opening sound settings on windows, windows says there is an issue with the device and disables it. In addition, this is printed out to the host qemu stdout:

processing error - resetting ehci HC

Command args:

QEMU_AUDIO_DRV=pa qemu-system-x86_64  -cpu host -m 6144 -vga qxl -device qxl -device vfio-pci,host=01:00.0,multifunction=on,addr=09.0 -device vfio-pci,host=01:00.1,addr=09.1 -enable-kvm -smp 8,sockets=1,cores=4,threads=2 -hda /mnt/VM_Images/win10_cdrive.qcow2 -drive file=qemu_vm_d.qcow2 -drive if=pflash,format=raw,readonly,file=/usr/share/edk2.git/ovmf-x64/OVMF-pure-efi.fd -drive if=pflash,format=raw,file=/mnt/VM_Images/win10_ovmf_vars_x64.bin -net nic,vlan=0,model=virtio -net bridge,vlan=0,br=brmain -soundhw hda -rtc base=localtime -usb -usbdevice host:046d:c517 -usbdevice host:051d:0002 -usbdevice host:093a:2521 -device usb-ehci,id=ehci -device usb-host,bus=ehci.0,vendorid=1133,productid=2074

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
4.4.3-300.fc23.x86_64
QEMU emulator version 2.4.1 (qemu-2.4.1-7.fc23)

How reproducible:
100%, but so far only encountered by the logitech webcam.

Actual results:
Device is disabled/removed from windows with no option of using the webcam as a sound device.

Expected results:
Webcam is enabled and allows selection as a sound device in windows 10.

Thanks for the report. Can you see if this also reproduces with latest qemu from fedora virt preview repo? https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Virtualization_Preview_Repository

Comment 2 ademaria 2016-04-09 22:46:48 UTC
Updated to:
EMU emulator version 2.5.91 (qemu-2.6.0-0.1.rc1.fc23)
4.4.6-301.fc23.x86_64

and am still able to reproduce.

gerd, have you seen this error before? any suggestions to debug further?

Trace all ehci ans usb_host events. Is tracing enabled in the fedora build?

Comment 6 Fedora End Of Life 2016-11-25 07:18:28 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 23 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 23. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '23'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 23 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 7 Cole Robinson 2016-12-12 20:45:24 UTC
Sorry this stalled, but since f23 is almost end-of-life, I'm closing this. If anyone can still reproduce, please reopen
