Description cqi 2016-04-22 09:56:58 UTC
Description of problem:

Curently, "All container-build traffic goes through Brew now, not direct to osbs". It's doable to remove osbs backend from container-build command from now on.

<pbabinca> twaugh, this https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1234922 . can cqi|wfh do that?
<cqi|wfh> pbabinca, yup :) thanks
<twaugh> cqi|wfh, pbabinca: yes, I don't see why not
<cqi|wfh> twaugh, okay
<twaugh> All container-build traffic goes through Brew now, not direct to osbs
<pbabinca> And maybe follow up - can direct OSBS communication be removed from pyrpkg as well? this was dependency on osbs-client can be dropped as well.
<twaugh> pbabinca: yes

Comment 1 Jan Kurik 2016-07-26 04:10:14 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 25 development cycle.
Changing version to '25'.

Comment 2 cqi 2016-08-22 06:23:25 UTC
Another issue about container build with osbs is https://pagure.io/rpkg/issue/54

That issue could be done first if building a container with OSBS could be useful for some developers, although as mentioned, it's a big if.

Close this bug. If OSBS is not used in rpkg any more, feel free to reopen.

Comment 3 Pavol Babinčák 2017-04-10 11:38:28 UTC
Ah, it turned out that osbs-client in still required by rpkg. Reopening.

Comment 4 cqi 2017-05-24 05:15:45 UTC
Instead of removing osbs entirely, it will be an optional in case someone still needs it.

I sent mail to releng.org to see if anyone has concerns about the removal. osbs support will not be removed until it is clear enough that removal is ok to the community.

Comment 5 cqi 2017-05-26 08:26:20 UTC
https://pagure.io/rpkg/pull-request/220 is merged. It makes osbs optional.

Comment 6 Fedora End Of Life 2017-11-16 19:45:52 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 25 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 25. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '25'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 25 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 7 cqi 2017-11-27 02:05:39 UTC
Previously osbs was made as an optional usage. Then, osbs was removed from rpkg afterwards. This bug can be closed now.
