Description Vivek Das 2016-04-22 14:50:41 UTC
Description of problem:
While running IOs over mount on windows client if try to create a new directory it does not show up for a quite a few minutes. Even after refreshing the share the New Folder is not seen. If tried to create another directory it throws an error pop up. The folder then shows up after a wait time (nearly a minute or two).
This is not seen on windows share folder mount.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
samba-client-4.4.2-1.el7rhgs.x86_64
glusterfs-client-xlators-3.7.9-2.el7rhgs.x86_64

How reproducible:
Mostly (8 out of 10 times)

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create a directory and run automated IO which creates 2000 files inside the directory
2.Come out of the directory and do a right click and create new directory

Actual results:
New Folder (directory) is not seen being created anywhere in the share for a while

Expected results:
New Folder (directory) should get created within no time

Additional info:

I have never faced this issue before while creating folders when dealing with IOs in windows.

Is this behavior seen with shadow_copy2 module disabled?

Comment 4 Vivek Das 2016-04-23 08:36:31 UTC
This is seen with 3.1.3 setup and has nothing to do with VSS feature.
I restarted the client but still was able to reproduce this issue. I tested this with running triple the amount of IOs in windows local drive and over windows shared drive but did not able to reproduce.

NOTE : I finally tested this on a XFS share and there also i did not find any issue.

Closed the samba bugs in bulk when PM_Score was less than 0. As the team was working on few of them, opening all of them.
