One cannot copy & paste anything into a NetworkManager password popup screens when logged in to Fedora 23 using wayland.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Can always be reproduced.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open a text file with gedit
2. Select text with mouse
3. Right click & select copy
4. In network manager > Wifi > select a WIFI network that has no password saved.
5. Click Connect.

Actual results:
Text is not pasted into field even though the option paste is selectable (the option is white)

Expected results:
Selected text should be pasted into the field but nothing happens.

Additional info:
This seems to be the case for other (all?) password prompts in NetworkManager as I'm get the same result when trying to paste in a password for a VPN connection in network-manager as well.

Comment 1 Dan Williams 2016-04-26 18:03:24 UTC
If you're using GNOME Shell, then this is a GNOME Shell issue since it provides the password dialogs. They'll have a black background. If KDE, then it's KDE that provides the password dialogs. If it's not one of these, please re-assign back to NetworkManager, thanks!

Comment 2 Mateusz Mojsiejuk 2016-04-26 21:48:03 UTC
Yes this is the case since I'm using Gnome Shell.

Comment 3 Mateusz Mojsiejuk 2016-06-26 21:04:06 UTC
This also applies to F24 so some attention would be greatly appreciated

Comment 4 Mateusz Mojsiejuk 2016-09-02 09:00:19 UTC
People any update on this? There has been Zero updates to this bug.
I just tried Fedora Workstation 25 Alpha2 and the same bug is present there
its been months...

Comment 5 Mateusz Mojsiejuk 2016-10-17 08:34:33 UTC
Problem still persists in 25_Beta-1.1.

Comment 6 Florian Müllner 2016-10-18 13:15:49 UTC
(In reply to Mateusz Mojsiejuk from comment #5)
> Problem still persists in 25_Beta-1.1.

What version is that? This is supposed to be fixed in mutter/gnome-shell 3.22.1

Comment 7 Mateusz Mojsiejuk 2016-10-18 16:15:18 UTC
The Fedora 25 Beta 1.1. has

gnome-shell-3.22.0-1.fc25.x86_64

Comment 8 Florian Müllner 2016-10-18 17:00:04 UTC
OK, in that case updating to 3.22.1 should fix this.

Comment 9 Mateusz Mojsiejuk 2016-10-18 18:38:34 UTC
That's not the version currently in Fedora Beta,
Is it planned for inclusion in Fedora 25?

Comment 10 Florian Müllner 2016-10-20 12:47:48 UTC
Yes.

Comment 11 Mateusz Mojsiejuk 2016-11-30 03:42:56 UTC
This bug can be closed. I've verified that copy paste works as expected in F25.

Comment 12 Fedora End Of Life 2017-11-16 19:02:44 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 25 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 25. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '25'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 25 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 13 Mateusz Mojsiejuk 2017-11-16 19:43:05 UTC
closing this as it was fixed in F25
