Description Jan Hutař 2016-04-26 19:54:34 UTC
Document URL:

Section Number and Name:
14.3.2. Installing the Katello Agent

Describe the issue:
This whole section seems to be very miss-leading - few notes:

 * Prerequisites: "Satellite version 6.1 and later require that you enable the Satellite Tools repository. The Red Hat Common repositories are no longer used and are not compatible with Satellite version 6.1 and later." - I do not think this is true
 * Procedure 14.5. To Install Katello Agent: both operations with "satellite-tools" repo does not work
 * Procedure 14.4. Verify the Satellite Tools Repository is Enabled step 3: for me it is Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Server - RH Common (RPMs)

Suggestions for improvement:
Section should reflect current names

Moving to NEW and the default assignee to be triaged as the schedule allows.

Assigning to Julie for review.

Julie - this procedure now lives in the Host Configuration Guide here:

https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_satellite/6.2/html-single/host_configuration_guide/#sect-Red_Hat_Satellite-Host_Configuration_Guide-Registration-Installing_the_Katello_Agent

What we need to do is run through the procedure on installing the package to see whether the procedure works as is in a Satellite 6.2 environment, in particular the steps on searching for, enabling the repo, and installing the package from that repo.

What Changed:
* Changed 'satellite-tools' to 'rhel-version-server-satellite-tools-6.2-rpms' as part of BZ#1252135.

* Checked in https://access.redhat.com/solutions/1392153 that Red Hat Common is the repository providing katello-agent for Sat 6.1 and above.

Hi Jan,
Thanks for filing this bug. I have fixed the "satellite-tools" issue and changed it to "rhel-version-server-satellite-tools-6.2-rpms"

The change has been verified and published as part of another bug. For the published update, see:
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_satellite/6.2/html-single/host_configuration_guide/#sect-Red_Hat_Satellite-Host_Configuration_Guide-Registration-Installing_the_Katello_Agent

I have also checked that Red Hat Common is repository used going forward for Sat 6.1 and above.

There are currently issues with the customer portal, and I cannot verify the repo names on a live instance but it has been stated in numerous kbase about the change of the repo used.

Please let me know if you have other feedback and would like me to update as part of this bug.

Kind regards,
Julie

Hello.

Looking at https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_satellite/6.2/html-single/host_configuration_guide/#sect-Red_Hat_Satellite-Host_Configuration_Guide-Registration-Installing_the_Katello_Agent

Noticed this in the first paragraph: "The following procedure shows how to install the Katello agent on a Satellite 6 host.". I'm not sure I read that correctly, but katello-agent is supposed to be installed on hosts managed by satellite 6, not on satellite 6 itself.

Otherwise it looks good. Thank you.
