Description Vladimir Benes 2016-04-29 14:02:00 UTC
Description of problem:
I think wwan module w/o MM is useless. Please add MM as dependency.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
usb_modeswitch-1.2.7-6.el7.x86_64
ModemManager-1.1.0-8.git20130913.el7.x86_64
NetworkManager-1.2.0-1.el7.x86_64el7.x86_64

Comment 1 Thomas Haller 2016-05-05 16:33:45 UTC
NetworkManager-wwan has no "Requires: ModemManager"
NetworkManager-bluetooth has no "Requires: bluez"

That is intentional, due to bug 1166325, which had the change:

-Requires: ModemManager
+# No Requires:ModemManager to prevent it being installed when updating
+# to the split NM package

I'd like to close this as WONTFIX.

Fixing it would disagree with the reasoning of why it was done this way in the first place (bug 1166325). But maybe the original reasoning is no longer valid... what do you think?

IRC:

<lrintel> looking at the comps.xml; seems like dial-up (that includes MM) is in system, graphical server, GNOME and KDE groups. I guess that means the workstation already includes MM?

<lrintel> then we don't want it by default?

<thaller> you suggest to close this bug as WONTFIX? (I don't disagree with that)

<lrintel> yes; i'd wontfix it. i actually initially asked vbenes to open the bug, but i was not aware that the dependency is missing on purpose

<lrintel> and the scenario where we hit this was really a minimal beaker install; not an actual workstation install

Therefore, closing. Please reopen if somebody disagrees.
