Minimum Recomendations in the Hardware Guide contains the following for ceph-osd: 

RAM - ~1 GB for 1TB of storage per daemon


The same guide contains a different recommendation under Chapter 2: Host Recommendations:

RAM - OSD's need around 2 GB or more of RAM per Daemon.  


The RHCS config guide contains the following for OSD RAM specifications: 

Red Hat typically recommends a baseline of 16GB of RAM, with an additional 2 GB of RAM per OSD.

Actual results:


Expected results: The guides should be updated to reflect the same information.  Most likely fix is updating the hardware guide to reflect 2GB per OSD deamon the same as the other two locations have it listed.

Hi Bara, 

The change looks good in both the 1.3 and 2 versions of the hardware guide, that should be sufficient.  

As for the Configuration Guide, it's available on the customer portal but I'm not sure who maintains it.  That has the same 2GB of RAM recommendation as the hardware guide now, so no changes should be needed there.
