Description Przemek Klosowski 2016-06-16 19:04:28 UTC
Description of problem:
retrieving MOL format structures (File/Import/Fetch by chemical name) no longer works due to a URL change at NIH

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
avogadro-1.1.1-14.fc23.x86_64

How reproducible: every time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. File/Import/Fetch by chemical name
2. enter some chemical name (e.g. tylenol)
3. press OK

Actual results: nothing happens

Expected results: correct file retrieval and structure display

related to bug in jmol
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1346937

This was caused by NIH redirecting http to https
I think all that needs to be done is to change the URL template accordingly or have the WWW library follow the redirect.
I haven't figured out yet where the URL is specified, so I wasn't able to test the above.

Just mentioning that the following redirect can't be too hard (assuming the http library can do TLS): curl, for instance, can be made to do so with the -L option.
